Matthew Krause is a Senior Consultant with Lexpat Global Services, specializing in national security, crisis management, human rights, and military law. A retired U.S. Army Colonel, he brings over 25 years of distinguished military, diplomatic, and legal experience worldwide. 

Mr. Krause held key leadership positions including Staff Judge Advocate at Fort Lee and Military Advisor to the Ambassador-at-Large for Global Criminal Justice at the U.S. Department of State. He provided strategic counsel to senior military commanders and State Department officials on accountability for atrocity crimes committed by the Islamic State and the Assad regime, as well as on human rights, transitional justice, security cooperation, and institution building in diverse international contexts. 

He earned his J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law and holds LL.M. degrees in National Security Law from Georgetown University Law Center and in Military Law from The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School.
